application of design- uniting our range plans.

After we each had our own allocated fabrics we then designed from the materials that were given to us, this was to be a good test in how we would all effectively design with the look of the brand and linking it all with the others ranges. We had a close team that communicated so, we would link our designs using details, such as zips, we all worked on the line of the silhouette, which we all agreed to keep strong and simple. We were to finally see if they all linked in our crit. The feedback was good saying that all our illustrations linked well together, a few changes were made, such as certain details and shapes, but overall it was noted that we had responded well to the overall theme, which unified our work together.

Colour moods

I have found my research to be particularly strong in this project, mainly because i had been sourcing fabrics, and materials, taking pictures, looking at films and books during the summer, which helped me to start with some stong ideas. I went to France where the light was beautiful, so picked up on that element of fresh light, traditional bohemian way of life, which i was living amongst. With the purchase of a Diana camera ( a remodel of the 60's camera) it helped me to take the most beautiful slightly vintage looking prints. Working at London fashion week this also helped me to meet some confident and fashionable individuals. Naturally i thought i'd draw on these two ideas of traditional bohemian life contrasting it with the fast glamorours pace of a cosmopolitan way of life.
Here is an example of one of my strongest mood boards, which i made on photoshop

Final Range plan for application of design

After meetings between the group we gathered together fabrics, which we allocated to each member, depending on what direction they were allocated to design for ie. daywear, casual, evening wear .... we chose accordingly. I chose more chiffon fabrics that were dark colours such as navy blue, plums and reds mixing this with heavier tweeds. I found this a really effective way for the group to all come up with a united collection that is both individual but links together.

click that hot chick

My friend Tess hair modelling for Davines Nattura, one of her first big shoots!

cloudy clothes

Casual strolling being my artform, led to an unexpected sale, whilst taking back my clothes from the shoot i walked into a friends garden, where she bought the cape above, i did make it with her in mind, so im glad it went to the right person. I will get some shots of her in it soon!

If you ain't gonna be good, or kind then ......

curvilinear

A brilliant mix of delicate pencil with a smooth outline and a lightly washed paint. couldn't find the name of the artist, i stumbled across it on a facebook profile.

All hail Britannia

British pride was at its height, Sarah Burton at her peak and royal peacocks modelling some of coutures finest, no wonder everyone was smiling but beneath the veils and tulle it was love that ruled the day.
Beautifully embroidered and cut, chanelling a slight 50's shape yet modern and original!

A very private affair

In response to Vogues style tribute to Bridget Bardot she really was the first lead hail the blonde hair smoking eyes sultry sexiness, which has since paved a path for the modern woman to follow.

Little miss riding hood

Playing in the park is no childs game, tona wore my navy wool and trimmed fur hood with a deep purple lining, although she was donning her peach summer maxi dress, this winter warmer was a welcome addition on a chilled summers afternoon! As my vast cape collection deserves a little more TLC i think they could be well captured on my vintage bike and running around in the woods.
A modern fairytale!

misses penelope

After my portfolio critique it was advised that i give it an update, so i got together three beauties and a photographer and magic happened! i really love the vibrancy of the red in a modern day style shoot with a simple twist of chanelling some 70's vibes.

daydreaming

As i was casually meandering down the corridor in college i came across an exhibition of the graphic illustrator christina K, i absolutely adore the delicate unrest fulness in the paintings, how the images overlay one another, and the print merges from these beauties faces.

Kayla's photo shoot final collection

I was lucky enough to be in the hands of Kayla as my third year. These are both the cutetest pictures from the outcome of her collection and the most beautifully crafted garments. The delicate graphic print plays beautifully with the bright orange mongolian fur. I hope to execute even half of the creative genius in my final year that Kayla has worked so hard on in her collection. I have defiently learnt a lot about persistance and precision, working with Kayla.

Research Practices - Design Details

From taking my research to design process i have decided to design a waistcoat dress. Throughout the design details i think that it successfully translates the two words i have taken inspiration from, being aesthetics and physcoanalysis. The jacket dress employs a plunging neck with strap details, that show organic shapes coming of it. It then moves around to the back like a slithering snake and transforms into big wing like details that spread across the back. The strong line of the construction of the outfit plays with the organic forms of the details. Therefore successfully merging the two ideas of beauty and the dream like state together. I wanted the details to integrate within the garment rather than be placed ontop of it, this has worked as it helps to naturally shape the details making them appear 3D rather than 2D.

Design Realisation

This module has been particularly enjoyable as i have had the opportunity to apply  applied my two strongest skills within the project. Sourcing a future trend and designing from it has helped me to sharpen my knowledge of the design process, by creating moodboards and taking inspirations along to the delvelopment stage i an area i feel that i can always improve on, however, i felt that in this project i managed to quickly translate a very strong design. Which was both fashionable and creative, with the use of frilled dungaree straps.
